The University of Vienna has established a research platform to investigate the physiology, structural biology, biochemistry, and ecology of nitrifying microorganisms with focus on complete ammonia oxidizers (comammox organisms). We are a committed team and offer an interdisciplinary scientific environment, cutting-edge laboratories, and a creative working atmosphere. The platform is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic post doc in the field of structural biology. Job Description:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This includes: + Involvement in a research project on the structural and biochemical characterization of selected enzymes from comammox and other nitrifying microorganisms + Publications and presentations + Involvement in project applications for third-party funding + Involvement in public outreach + Teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement + Supervision of trainees and students
Profile:
+ Doctoral or PhD degree (Biology, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or similar) + Excellent command of written and spoken English + High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing + Documented publication activity in peer-reviewed journals + Excellent team-working ability
+ Excellent knowledge and experience in structural biology. Methodological competences (one or more of the following): + Practical experience in molecular cloning, expression, and purification of protein complexes. Prior knowledge of crystallography and/or single-particle electron microscopy. In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have very good communication and organizational skills, the capacity to interact with other researchers, experience in working on research projects, publications in international scientific journals, and international presentation experience.
