The Department of Mechatronics (at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences) at the University of Innsbruck
seeks to fill the position of a full-time
Assistant Professor of Mechatronics
in the area of digitalization in Electrical Engineering
as of January 1, 2019. This position is initially limited to 6 years; a tenure-track agreement can be offered
within the first year of employment. Upon positive evaluation the position is converted into a tenured Associate
Professorship.
This career position is embedded in an attractive environment of existing competencies close to the above
thematic area, including microelectronics, active implantable medical systems, signal processing, radio frequency
technology, and power electronics. Moreover, this is one of 12 career positions the University of
Innsbruck is creating in diverse scientific disciplines connected to digitalization.
Tasks
The successful applicant should engage in topics within the area of digititalization in electrical engineering
in research and teaching.
In particular, research activities in at least one of the following areas are expected:
- theoretic fundamentals of signal digitization
- technical reliability of digital systems
- computational science in biomedical engineering
Teaching comprises lectures especially within the study programs of the Department of Mechatronics (Mechatronics
and Electrical Engineering). In addition, co-supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD theses is
expected.
Participation in the academic self-management is a matter of course.
Eligibility Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field;
- Postdoctoral experience;
- Relevant scientific achievement beyond dissertation/PhD level, in particular independent publication
activity in leading international refereed journals;
- Research experience in at least one of the areas mentioned above;
- National and international collaborations (academic and industry);
- Mobility experience;
- Experience in the acquisition and/or scientific management of research projects;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English;
- Team and communication skills.
