At the
Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering the position of a
Chair (W2) of Nanoelectronic Devices,
especially Nanowires
is to be filled
as soon as possible. This chair is part of the Cluster of Excellence
Center for
Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed) to support and enhance the academic excellence of
the cfaed.
The holder of the position shall be capable of representing the specified area with high dedication
in research as well as in education. A challenging, future-oriented research program that covers
both foundational issues and applications is expected, including several of the following topics:
- Top-down fabrication and bottom-up synthesis of silicon and germanium nanowire materials
with defined properties for electronic device applications. Further, co-integration of compound
III-V semiconductors in silicon nanowires.
- Heterogeneous device integration of complex nanowire structures including defined interfaces
and solid state reactions for contact formation.
- Design, fabrication and electrical characterisation of novel types of transistors with silicon and
germanium nanowire materials with extended functionalities beyond conventional CMOS.
- Conception, realisation and characterisation of novel nanowire based circuit topologies
exploiting device level reconfiguration of functions as well as between power consumption
and performance.
The teaching responsibilities include courses in the area of emerging electronic devices and their
related technologies for study tracks at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering as well
as the supervision of student theses and PhD students. Furthermore, participation in introductory
courses of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and for other faculties as well
support of the international Master program Nanoelectronic Systems is expected. The duties also
include participation in self-administration and academic boards of the Faculty of Electrical and
Computer Engineering and of TU Dresden.
The successful candidate will be required to inspire our students as well as to conduct research
that meets the highest standards of excellence contributing to the goals and visions of cfaed
and to shape the profile of the Faculty in a future-oriented way. The candidate should agree with

new talents. Applicants must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, a post-doctoral
degree („Habilitation“) or equivalent record of research and teaching experience, and extensive
experience in acquiring third-party funding as well as project and group management. Experience
in industrial research is beneficial. Special emphasis is put on high-quality international
publications, strong international contacts, and independently acquired and successfully
