The Department Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering is seeking to hire
for research and teaching within the broad field of intelligent sensorimotor systems, including the following responsibilities and activities.
Research: You will development new AI methods and technologies for dynamic inference and learning to create new forms of sensorimotor intelligence in biomedical and mechatronic systems. This includes but is not limited to intelligent sensor fusion, artificial proprioception, biomimetic motor learning, collective inference and learning in sensor networks and multi-agent systems. Applications include but are not limited to wearable sensor networks, soft robotics, exoskeletons and neuroprostheses. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to initiate, attract funding for, and lead research projects within the scope of the mentioned topics.
Teaching: You will support the group's teaching activities on the Bachelor's and Master's level. This includes but is not limited to organizing seminars and holding whiteboard exercises, computer labs and journal clubs, as well as advising thesis projects and, in the case of postdoctoral researchers, teaching and advising PhD candidates.
The activities are embedded in the highly interdisciplinary research environment of the new Department Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Additional desirable but optional qualifications include prior knowledge in statistics, sensor fusion, machine learning, systems and control theory; prior knowledge in rapid prototyping, electronics, embedded systems or app programming; experienced in grant writing or in teaching and advising students; as well as the ambition to learn the German language.
