Economist as Researcher (f/m) in the field of Environmental or Innovation Economics or Econometrics

Bauhaus Luftfahrt is an interdisciplinary research institution funded by the four aerospace companies Airbus,
Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft (IABG), Liebherr-Aerospace, and MTU Aero Engines as well as grants from
the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Media, Energy, and Technology. The non-profit association is
an internationally oriented think tank. Its team of around 50 employees deals with the future of mobility in
general and with the development of air travel in particular. The goal of the research work is to consider the
complex system of aviation from different points of view. In every project, the technical, economic, social,
and ecological aspects are considered holistically.
As support for our team we are looking for a full-time
Economist as Researcher (m/f) in the field of Environmental or Innovation Economics or Econometrics
In 2011, the EU Commission defined the long-term goals for aviation by formulating the "Flightpath 2050" challenging future
prospects of air transport. There is a common understanding that fulfilling Flightpath 2050 goals will only be possible through
a strong collaboration between aviation stakeholders as well as radical innovations in the field of aircraft technologies and
alternative fuels. Most promising solutions have to be examined and assessed holistically in terms of their economy and
ecology for various aviation and non-aviation stakeholders
Coordinating and work on cooperation projects with our industry partners and other research institutions in the field of environment al or innovation economics or econometrics
Economic analysis of environmental and technological developments with focus on aviation
Development of scientific methods for the economic and ecological assessment of new aircraft technologies and alternative fuels to support long-term decisions
Responsible support of cooperation with relevant research facilities and industrial partners
Supporting the team head in project acquisition and communication of key research results within aeronautic community as well as relevant stakeholders
University degree in economics in the field of environmental or innovation economics or econometrics, ideally with PhD
Research or professional experience in the transport sector is beneficial
Various scientific, peer reviewed journal publications and conference presentations
Very good analytical skills and confident application of relevant methods, modelling and analysis tools
Profound team work abilities and willingness to participate and contribute to an interdisciplinary team
Proficiency in English
We offer a modern working environment on the Ludwig-Bölkow-Campus located in Taufkirchen near Munich, a team-oriented approach,
flat hierarchies and flexible work time. Employment, compensation and benefits are determined by the collective agreement for
public service and contain performance-oriented compensation as well as a company pension scheme. The position is assigned to
the department „Economics and Transportation” and initially implies a temporary employment contract. We encourage your
