Endowed Chair Systems of Virtual Reality (Full-Time Full-Professorship)
The successful applicant will be full professorship in the Department of Political and Social Sciences and the Department of Culture and Communication Studies.
Zeppelin University is dedicated to support internationally visible research. Our research is focused on the research clusters Computational Social Sciences, Decision Research, Governance of Global Cooperation Networks, and Transformative Cultural Production. Applicants for this position will be experts on Systems of Virtual Reality and will continue this research at Zeppelin University. In addition, applications will teach courses on Systems of Virtual Reality in our undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs. Candidates are in encouraged to contribute to the research cluster Computational Social Sciences at Zeppelin University.
We are looking for a researcher with an international reputation for excellent work in data science, i.e., in the fields of computer science, statistics, engineering, or related areas. The candidate should explore and develop virtual reality systems in an innovative and cross-disciplinary way. The candidate is encouraged to contribute to the multidisciplinary discussion on consequences of virtual reality for society with experts on culture and communication studies.
Applicants should provide a strong record of scholarship, and evidence of potential to develop and lead high-quality research, with national and international significance. Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage, in both research and teaching. We expect publications international peer-reviewed journals and the successful acquisition of external funding in competitive procedures. The candidate will teach graduate, undergraduate, and PhD courses in the area of Systems of Virtual Reality (e.g., Data Science, with a focus on data visualization, data management, human-machine interaction, advanced statistics, and machine learning in virtual reality). In addition, an interest on interdisciplinary research is expected, the acquisition of competitive external funding, and a willingness to participate in ZU's self-governance.
The requirements for appointment to a professorship according to § 47 LHG BW apply. This position requires a Ph.D. or doctoral degree, a strong record of teaching, and the ability to develop and lead high-quality teaching and research with special attention to Systems of Virtual Reality.
