For our Institute of Transport Systems in Braunschweig, we wish to recruit a qualified
Engineer, Informatician, Mathematician or similar
Research, conception and application of machine learning methods and methods of artificial intelligence for perception of the environment and egolocalization
Design the future of mobility with us! Be part of an interdisciplinary team where dedicated women and men have turned their passion for
the mobility of tomorrow into a career. Together with our research partners and the industry, cooperate with us in numerous national and
international projects to develop cooperative and highly automated traffic systems on the road, rail and in the air to increase efficiency,
comfort and safety in traffic, especially into the city. We concentrate our research and development on automotive and rail systems, traffic
and mobility management as well as intermodality and public transport. The guiding principles of our work are: safety, efficiency, sustainability,
economy and quality. Our research always keeps an eye on the overall traffic system with all its interactions.
In order to achieve these goals, cross-domain methods of sensor and data-based perception and environment mapping are necessary. The highly
automated vehicle of the future needs to know its own location and its environment for optimal planning and execution of its maneuvers.
Moreover, communication and cooperation of automated rail, road and unmanned aerial vehicles in a coordinated overall system offers
completely new opportunities that need to be studied and exploited for our society.
You will work in the sensor systems group on road traffic and other topics, such as:
research, conception and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for perception of the environment and egolocalization
development of methods for data and information fusion
conceptual development of the topic based on current research results
For your research, there is an integrated DLR tool chain with numerous laboratories, (couplable) simulators, automated test carriers and
research infrastructure in the field available such as the application platform Intelligent Mobility (AIM) or the Testfeld Niedersachsen.
As an experienced professional or dedicated career entrant you will encounter a stimulating research environment, plenty of room for their
own ideas and international visibility. You will take over tasks with high responsibility that help shape the European and national environment.

Initially, this position is limited to 2 years. There is the option for part-time or full-time.
completed academic studies (diploma or master) in information science, engineering or a comparable degree program
knowledge of methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of structuring of data
knowledge in the field of fusion of data and information
passion for innovative research, scientific and systematic way of working, motivation and willingness to perform
safe handling of C ++ and Python
good knowledge of spoken and written English
knowledge of German language is welcome
