“For evil to flourish, it only requires good men to do nothing.” - Simon Wiesenthal
The Alfred Landecker Foundation is dedicated to educating current and future generations about the Holocaust and the terrible price paid when intolerance and bigotry reign. Through understanding the destructive violence that made the Holocaust possible, the foundation seeks to defend democratic values today, and the inviolable dignity of minorities and individuals across Europe and beyond.
The story of the Reimann family, whose ancestors were Nazi supporters, is tragically and intimately intertwined with that of Alfred Landecker, a victim of the Holocaust. From now on, the Reimann family Foundation and its mission will explicitly refer to the life and fate of Alfred Landecker and redirect its purpose. Based in Berlin, the newly formed Alfred Landecker Foundation will fund carefully selected research, education and awareness-raising projects with two purposes: to honour the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi terror, and to use these lessons to promote and strengthen democratic values.
