Full Professorship (W3) for Zoology / Evolution

The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science seeks to fill this position by
October 1, 2023, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and The Arts Baden-Württemberg and the University Council.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
Candidates should work and be internationally recognized for research in the field of evolution of behaviour. The ideal candidate has a strong focus on conceptual and/or theoretical research and is a leading expert in e.g. theoretical evolutionary biology, evolution of sociality, or behavioural genomics. Experience with multidisciplinary approaches will be an advantage, as a close interaction with and participation in current local research consortia, in particular the “Cluster of Collective Behaviour” as well as a contribution to the development of future research consortia is expected. Furthermore, the successful candidate is strongly committed to teaching of Evolution and Zoology at the undergraduate Bachelor and graduate Master levels within our “Biological Sciences” and “Life Science” programs.

Recruitment requirements are a university degree, doctorate, habilitation, or equivalent scientific achievement (e.g., Associate Professor).
