The University of Bremen, a mid-sized University with
approximately 270 professorships and 20,000 students,
offers a broad range of disciplines and competes internationally
in top-level research.
Funded by the University's Central Research Development
Fund (CRDF), the University of Bremen invites postdoctoral
researchers to apply for
Eight Open Topic Postdoc Positions
to pursue an independent research project for three years.
The self-designed projects can be established in any
research area. In order to ensure a fruitful academic
exchange, the integration of the project in an academic unit
at the University of Bremen is a prerequisite for an application.
The postdoctoral positions are open to
A) early-career postdocs up to two years after finishing their
PhD (date of doctoral certificate).
B) advanced postdocs with the aim of a professorship. The
PhD must not date back to less than two years before
application deadline and not more than four years (date of
doctoral certificate).
Successful applicants will be employed by the University
(pay grade E 13 TV-L or up to E 14 TV-L for advanced
researchers) and receive a yearly budget of 6,000 € for
research activities. This is a temporary position to which § 2
(1) WissZeitVG (law on limited-duration employment contracts
in science) applies. The University of Bremen is an equal
opportunity employer. Thus, at least 50 percent of the
positions will be offered to women.
We are looking for highly motivated researchers with an
outstanding doctoral degree, a significant publication record,
and an excellent research proposal. Applications must be
accompanied by a letter of support from a selected host
professor of the University of Bremen.
Please submit your application via the online application
system by
1 April 2020.
