The Ecological Economics Group within the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law (Faculty II) at the University of Oldenburg invites applications for the position of a
Post-doctoral researcher (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in [m/w/d]) 100 % – E13 TV‑L for 3 years
The successful applicant will study social science and governance challenges of animal navigation in close collaboration with social as well as natural scientists. Successful applicants are expected to (i) develop ideas exploring conceptual frameworks for social-science research in animal navigation of bird, fish and insect species, (ii) detail the research ideas into programmes and projects, and (iii) to implement actual research activities. Concrete measures may include systematic literature reviews, co-organising an interdisciplinary workshop, and expert interviews as well as document analyses. This work should result in peer-reviewed paper publications and contribute to designing a large-scale research programme.
Required skills and experience:
- Academic university degree (Master’s [University] or equivalent) in a social science discipline including economics,
- Preferably a finalised PhD in a thematically-related discipline
- Significant previous research experience in related fields such as biodiversity governance, marine governance, mobilities studies, ecosystem services,
- Knowledge and experience in empirical research methods, preferably including systematic literature reviews, expert interviews and interdisciplinary methods,
- Record of relevant scientific publications including working papers,
- Ability for and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, international team and to closely collaborate in particular with natural-science research partners,
- Very good command of spoken and written English,
- Good IT skills in Microsoft Office Programmes,
- Excellent paper writing and presentation skills, and
- Good time management and organisational skills.
