The Institute of Experimental Gene Therapy and Cancer Research at the University of Rostock located on the Baltic Sea offers a
creative and international environment and is pursuing innovative translational strategies to prevent and control cancer
progression to improve human health. Our research concerns the cellular, molecular and epigenetic mechanisms of cancer stemness,
metastasis, chemo- and immunotherapy resistance. We employ mouse models and multidisciplinary approaches that combine biomedical
science tools with functional genomics, disease modelling, structural systems pharmacology, genome editing and customized viral
vector technologies. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and ensures excellent opportunities for
We are seeking a motivated, ambitious post-doctoral candidate interested in mechanisms linking oncogene-induced signaling pathways
with cancer metastasis/stemness and metabolic reprogramming to develop new therapeutic concepts. Our current project
specifically aims to uncover how p73 variants control the equilibrium between pluripotency and differentiation and regulate the
tumor microenvironment to promote aggressive cancer phenotypes.
A person is eligible for a position if she or he has recently obtained an MD and/or PhD degree. Individuals with backgrounds in molecular
biology, epigenomics, oncology and developmental biology or expertise in bioinformatics technologies (computational analyses of RNA-seq and
OMICS) are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful applicants must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
in a group and have good German and English communication skills.
The full-time position is funded by the DFG and initially terminated for 2 years with a salary according to TV-UMN. Rostock University
