Professor
in »AI Processor Design«
W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible.
Scientific Environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and in the future to the TUM School of Computation, Information &
Technology and is affiliated with the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM), an integrative research center developing innovative and
sustainable methods and technologies in the fields of Robotics, Perception and Artificial Intelligence

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of AI Processor Design with focus on
- Circuit design in advanced technologies, possibly using novel devices (e.g. memristors)
- Architectures for processors or accelerators, including memory systems, for AI applications
- Design for AI applications, especially for resource-constrained environments such as embodied AI and autonomous robot systems
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level

The candidate should have proven potential to pursue cutting-edge research in circuit architecture and design using advanced technologies, targeting AI applications. Experience with novel devices is advantageous. Familiarity with trends in AI including physics- and model-informed ML is assumed. In addition to research, the successful candidate is expected to perform excellent teaching, and to establish and maintain third-party funded research programs and collaborations with industry/university partners
A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
