Sustainable use of resources and life cycle analyses for special crops
The professorship belongs to the Department of Applied Ecology (AO).
Faculty in the Department are conducting research and teaching in a wide
array of fields in ecology, climate change, sustainability, greenhouse gas
fluxes, population dynamics of natural vegetation and related topics.
Responsibilities include research and teaching in some of the following
fields: material flow and life cycle analyses / evaluation / optimization in
special crop production and the downstream value chain, CO2 equivalent
emission reduction in product processing, logistics, distribution and
operation management, sustainability evaluation of innovative, resourceefficient
technologies including digitization approaches. The teaching
load includes courses in German and English taught bachelor and master
programs with up to 4 - 6 SWS hours per week during the semester.
The candidate is expected to develop own lecture formats on sustainability
aspects along the product value chain of special crops during the pre-tenure
We seek to appoint a junior scientist with excellent potential for highprofile
national and international research on material flow and life cycle
analyses as well as sustainability issues applied to cultivation systems
of special crops, their value chains as well as on the accounting of
corporate- and product-related indicators of sustainability. A university
degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific
qualification in biological and agricultural sciences or economic and
social sciences is required depending on which aspects of the scientific
array requested can be covered.
For this position, we expect pedagogic aptitude, including the ability to
teach in German and English. First experiences with the acquisition of
external funds are desirable. The candidate must be willing to co-operate
with other research and teaching units on campus. Participation in and
performance of departmental and university service is expected.
We are looking to fill the positions as soon as possible. All positions
are initially W1 fixed-term positions with civil servant status for 6 years
with tenure track to a tenured W2 position after a successful evaluation
based on § 64 Hessian Higher Education act. The professorships are
funded by the Tenure Track Program of the Federal Government and
the Federal States.
