The
Faculty of Human Sciences of the
University of
Potsdam invites applications for one professorship in
the field of
inclusive education, to be filled as soon as
possible. We are looking for a researcher of national and
international stature with an excellent record in teacher
training and empirical education research. The professor
will join the Potsdam team of education researchers and
contribute to raising the profile of empirical education
research. The successful candidate is expected to show
particular dedication to teacher training, further develop
the degree programs, as well as actively cooperate with
the Center for Teacher Training and Education Research
(ZeLB). A strong emphasis on research and teaching with
regard to the practical aspects of teaching at secondary
schools is desirable.
Professorship (W 2) for
Educational Psychology in an
Inclusive Context
The professorship represents the field of psychology
in inclusive education in both research and teaching.
Teaching obligations include undergraduate and graduate
teacher training programs in elementary and secondary
education with a particular emphasis on special needs
and inclusive education. Contributions to the further
development of degree programs and to academic selfadministration
are expected.
Areas of research expertise should include contemporary
topics of educational psychology in the context of
inclusive education. Particular emphasis should be given
to emotional and behavioral disturbances (EBD) and
their impact on social and learning behavior of children
and adolescents.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of
publications in renowned, peer-reviewed scientific outlets
and of securing external funding, an excellent history of
national and international networking and collaboration,
and teaching experience related to the professorship’s
area of expertise.

The University of Potsdam views the interconnection of
scholarship and teaching in the training of teachers as a
particular challenge. The holder of this position must be
able to adequately represent both fields.
The University of Potsdam has a distinguished teacher
training program that is oriented towards the realities of
school and instruction, while also incorporating the latest
research findings in the field; the program includes a high
proportion of practical phases. The “Potsdam Model” of
teacher training will be developed further in cooperation
with other professorships involved with teacher training
at the University of Potsdam and in cooperation with the
Center for Teacher Training and Education Research. We
expect a willingness to cooperate in continuing teacher
training and an interest in crossfaculty collaboration. A
willingness to take gender and other diversity dimensions
into account as relevant aspects in research and teaching
is also expected. In addition, applicants should assume
their leadership responsibility in a way that is oriented
towards gender equality and diversity.
