There is a
Professorship (W2) in Computer Science, with specialisation in Autonomous Systems
in the Computer Science department at the Sankt Augustin campus available from 1. March 2023. The contract is permanent.
Your responsibilities:
You will
provide courses in the the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Computer Science, Business Informatics and especially in the international Master's programme in "Autonomous Systems" of the department in German and English
carry out research and development projects, source and manage third-party-funded projects and participate in knowledge transfer
support domestic, international and interdisciplinary collaboration with academic, business and societal institutions
actively engage in the university’s system of academic autonomy
contribute to implementing the University Development Plan, in particular with regard to sustainability targets
participate in technology transfer with national and international organizations and companies
participate in the establishment and development of study programms, primarily in the area of Autonomous Systems
Our expectations:
You must
meet the employment requirements set out in Section 36 of the Nordrhein-Westfalen Hochschulgesetz
be prepared and able to provide courses in German and English
be willing to help establish and develop our study programmes and assist in introducing innovative digital teaching formats on an ongoing basis
Willingness to take gender, diversity and sustainability into account as quality criteria in the areas of teaching, research and knowledge transfer
have a scientific qualification in a research area contributing to the intelligence required for robot autonomy in dynamic environments shared with humans demonstrated through relevant publications in leading international journals and refereed conference proceedings. Example research foci include: Human-Robot-Collaboration, Robot Control, Perception, Learning, Adaptation, and Planning in dynamic and unstructured environments, and Robot Control Architectures
proven experience in the development of robot prototypes and execution of demonstrators in one or more of the following application domains: Agile Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, Logistics, Inspection and Maintenance, Healthcare and Domestic Service Robots
Experience in research collaborations with international partners
In addition, experience teaching at a university or comparable institution, experience developing new teaching concepts and content, and experience supervising bachelor’s and master’s students is desirable. Previous experience acquiring third-party funding for research and development projects and a good network within the German and international research community is an advantage. Experience in the (co-)supervision of PhD theses is an advantage.
