Professorship (W2) of "Behavioral Research Methods" with tenure track

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Professor of »Behavioral Research Methods«
to begin in the Winter Semester 2020/21, or earlier/later by mutual agreement. While we are particularly looking to hire young, international talents as tenure track Assistant Professors (W2 fixed term position with tenure track to a tenured W3 position), we may also consider exceptional applications for a tenured W3 position as Associate or Full Professor. The professorship is endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and will be located in Munich/Garching.
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Management. The School is currently listed as one of the strongest German business schools in research. We aim to create real impact through our research contributing to solving humanity's greatest challenges. Existing members of the business school publish in top business, economics, and general science journals. The professors of the School have access to an experimental lab, a subject pool as well as to major databases for research. The School has close ties to the industry.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of behavioral research methods and related areas. The teaching load includes courses in the University's bachelor's and master's programs, in particular in methods training as part of behavioral management studies. We expect the successful candidate to attract successfully third-party funding.
We are looking for candidates with research and teaching experience at the highest international standards, according to the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. We further expect substantial research experience outside of Germany, and the ability to lead cooperative research projects.
The successful candidate should be well-versed in different research designs and data analysis approaches, e.g. experimental research designs and/or field research, and in particular structural equation modeling and multi-level analyses. Ideally s/he is familiar with state of the art of open research methodologies and/or big data approaches to social science research. We are looking for candidates who can address the current shortcomings and criticisms of (management) research. We expect the successful candidate to identify and develop novel and original data sources, methodologies and research approaches for research in behavioral management studies in order to create real impact.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
