Professorship (W3) for Trustworthy Data Science

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The person selected to hold the new professorship for Trustworthy Data Science will specialize in research and teaching in the field of trustworthy algorithms and theory for the next-generation of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The teaching load is reduced to four weekly hours per semester. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to English-taught courses in computer science or data science. YOUR QUALIFICATION
We are seeking an outstanding individual and established scientist holding an excellent PhD with continuous publication activities in highly ranked international venues in the recent years. These should be in at least one of the following areas.

• Explainable Machine Learning
• Fairness and Transparency
• Visual Data Analytics
• Game-Theory
• Causal Inference
• Formal Guarantees
• Adversarials and Robustn

Applicants should complement the research activities of the RC Trust and the Department of Computer Science and need to be willing to contribute to interdisciplinary collaborative research projects and collaborations within and outside the RC Trust and the Research Alliance Ruhr universities. Applications of trustworthy data science include but are not limited to life sciences, social sciences, health, autonomous systems, logistics or engineering. A high visibility and successful experience in self-acquirement of third-party funding projects are mandatory. Strong social and leadership skills and willingness to participate in academic self-administration complete your profile. In addition, the recruitment criteria of Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG NRW) apply.

The Center will enable research that connects psychology, computer science, statistics and cyber security in order to empower humans to understand, control and verify artificial intelligence technology as well as modern machine learning in (semi-)automated decision making.
