Professor (W2) for Translational Drug
Research
The position will be a joint appointment with the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP according to the leave of absence model ("Jülich Model") and linked to a senior position (e. g. department head) at Fraunhofer ITMP.
The responsibilities involved in the position include representation of the field of translational drug research in both research and teaching. The individual must have excellent scientific qualifications (habilitation or equivalent in pharmacology, clinical pharmacology or a clinical subject) and be familiar with the field of translational drug research through own previous research and teaching activities. In addition, experience in personnel management, coordination of interdisciplinary research projects and successful acquisition of external funding is a necessary requirement.
The successful applicant is expected to have an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching, as evidenced by publications in recognized journals and contributions to international conferences, leadership experience in research consortia and a track record in coordinating cross-disciplinary project teams.
Relevant experience in applied research, e. g. in the pharmaceutical industry or biotechnology, is an advantage but not a prerequisite for application.
The professorship is intended to strengthen and further develop the strategic cooperation between Goethe University and the Fraunhofer Institute, contribute to the university's initiatives for the next round of the Bund-Länder Excellence Initiative and to build relationships with industry partners in the area of translational research.
