Program C "Environmental Governance and Transformations to Sustainability" is looking for the purpose of parental leave for
two Researchers (m/f)
Salary according to German public service tariff
(German public sector tariff, EG TVöD 13)
Approximately € 46.000 p.a. to € 69.500 p.a.
depending on qualifications;
The positions are available as of 1 March, 2018 and limited until 31 December 2018.
Successful candidates will carry out research and policy advice in the interdisciplinary research project "Klimalog: Research and dialogue for a climate-smart and just transformation". The focus will be on governance issues related to either of the following research themes: recent developments in global climate governance; interconnections between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and international climate policy; loss and damage in the context of climate change and sustainable development; non-state actors in the context of climate action and sustainable development. Applicants are encouraged to develop own research in relation to either of these themes. One position is inter alia expected to contribute to database development and analysis of non-state climate initiatives, the other position shall inter alia contribute to advancing NDC-SDG Connections (www.NDC-SDG.info) with knowledge about processes relating to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Qualifications and requirements:
M.A.-level university degree in political science, social science or economics or in geography, environmental or agricultural sciences with distinct social science focus;
Proven knowledge and research experience in at least one of the above mentioned research themes in addition to a good general understanding of climate policy, sustainable development and international cooperation;
Job-related experience with international institutions and processes of the UNFCCC and the UN Development System as well as proficiency in translating research into policy advice are considered valuable assets;
Experience with databases, qualitative content analysis and related skills in data analysis and data visualization are desirable;
Excellent command of English in speech and in writing is required, good German language skills and proficiency in other major international languages are considered valuable assets;
Readiness to travel abroad is assumed, including to countries with a tropical climate ("Tropentauglichkeit").
