Electronics
The Paul-Drude-Institute for Solid State Electronics is part of the Forschungsverbund
Berlin e. V. and a member of the Leibniz Association, which includes more than 90
research institutes within Germany. The focus of the PDI is interdisciplinary research
in materials science and solid-state physics with special emphasis on the growth, physical
properties, and applications of nanostructured inorganic semiconductors, important
for future information and communication technologies.
The director of the PDI shapes the development and implementation of the institute's
scientific program. These responsibilities include initiating research strategies, the establishment
of policy and priorities, management of about 100 staff members, and collaboration
with academic and non-academic institutions as well as industrial partners.
The professorship at the HU Berlin is in the area of solid-state physics and includes
research, teaching, and thesis supervision within the university‘s Bachelors, Masters
and doctoral programs.
The successful candidate must be an outstanding scientist with a convincing track
record in or close to the current research areas of the PDI. Excellent scientific standing,
scientific management skills, and a collaborative attitude are required. The candidate
must have experience in project management, possess the ability to secure external
funding, and show a strong commitment to the mentoring of staff and students. A
demonstrated commitment to furthering economically important applications to innovative
electronics and optoelectronics is also required. Qualified applicants from
