The Molecular Targets Group (Pharmaceutical Sciences) invites applications for a University Assistant (Postdoctoral Scientist) position.
The position is available from September 2020 and funded for 6 years. The opportunity for "Habilitation" or an equivalent qualification is given. The successful candidate is highly motivated and committed to research in the fields of molecular pharmacology, natural products, and cell biology/cell signaling.
She*He will contribute to the supervision of diploma students, graduate students and technicians and support currently existing research fields of the group. In addition, she*he is expected to establish an own research focus and acquire project funding.
The successful candidate will hold classes due to extent regulations of wage agreement.
The research group where the position is located, identifies or uses bioactive natural products (from plants or microorganisms) and synthetic structural analogs to understand or modulate cellular processes that are of interest for pharmaceutical purposes like drug discovery or target identification. The studied cellular processes are relevant for metabolic, cardiovascular or neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.

• PhD/doctoral degree preferably in Pharmacy, (Bio)chemistry, Biology or other related fields
• Ideally, a minimum of two years postdoctoral experience
• Experience in cell- and molecular biology
• Very good English (including scientific writing) and adequate German language skills (due to teaching duties)
• Good managements and organisational skills
• Creativity and stamina to realize own research ideas
• Strong intrinsic interest in science, high motivation and commitment, the ability to think critically and to work independently within a team
• The willingness to support master and doctoral students as well as to contribute to teaching in Pharmacy
