With the sowi:docs fellowship programme the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS) offers up to 5 positions for doctoral candidates in the social sciences. sowi:docs fellowships are individual scholarships which give outstanding doctoral candidates the opportunity to devote full-time effort to their research and to writing their doctoral thesis. We welcome applications in the fields of communication, demography, development studies, nursing studies, political science, science and technology studies, social and cultural anthropology, and sociology.
The earliest date to start the programme is 1 October 2021, the latest date is 1 January 2022.

Profile:
- Above-average MA or equivalent in a field of study present at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Vienna.
- If the applicant is not yet enrolled as a doctoral candidate at the University of Vienna, they have to be granted admission in the winter semester of 2021/2022.
- If the applicant is already a doctoral candidate at the University of Vienna, they must have been admitted no earlier than in the summer semester of 2019.
- Applicants need to secure the support of at least one supervisor who is a member of the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences.
