The Faculty of Philology of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W 3) for Media and Cultural
Studies
at the Department of Media and Cultural Studies.
Fulltime position. Start-date: At the earliest possible date.
This professorship is particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.
The potential appointee is expected to broadly represent the discipline in his/her qualification. His/her main focus of teaching and research should be in the field of digital cultures. Expertise is expected in the theory, history and aesthetics of the digital, taking into account the interdependences between society and digital technologies. In accordance with the profile of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Freiburg, the appointee’s research should be grounded in cultural studies and make a theoretical as well as methodological contribution to digital humanities. Furthermore, it is desired that the appointee conducts research on audiovisual media and popular formats. In addition, the appointee should participate in the planned collaborative projects in the humanities and be involved in the Freiburg Center for Popular Culture and Music.
Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
